Volunteer Urgently Needed to Complete Grant Forms - The garden relies on donations from the public and government funding. We are looking for a volunteer who has experience of either completing or reading grant forms, who can write a compelling application. This work can be done from home. Please contact us if you think you’d be suited to this.

Whickham Hermitage Community Garden is a walled garden on the outskirts of Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.

After an extensive period of time, and through the magnificent efforts of a dedicated team of volunteers and experts, Whickham Hermitage Community Garden is back to its former glory. The garden has been extensively restored and renewed, and visitors can now come along and share the timeless magic of this wonderful place.

Relax in the beauty and tranquillity of greenery and lush colourful plants and flowers.
Discover artistic installations and plant life.
Step onto the wooden bridge and observe the life that abounds in the waters below.

Then soak up the atmosphere with freshly prepared hot and cold food and beverages in the newly opened Orangery Coffee House.

We also have a range of plants for sale and special events throughout the year.
